Miyakatsu Koike

Arrested and detained while working for a Japanese bank in the Dutch East Indies, Miyakatsu Koike arrived at Loveday in January 1941 and remained there until February 1946, when he was repatriated to Japan. In 1987 he published in Japan his diary of internment in Loveday under the title Four Years in a Red Coat. It contained a number of sketches that fellow internees made during their internment, commonly trying to identify elements of humour in an otherwise trying experience.
